DUAL-DSP PROCESSOR BOARD ('01-'02)
A dual-DSP processor board was designed for a high-performance spectrum analyzer. Control logic and state machines were realized by multiple high-density Altera PLDs and Xilinx FPGAs. ADSP-21160 95MHz DSPs with 64-bit buses were used. Other features included a 64-bit/66MHz PCI interface using the BittWare SharcFin; various power circuits; flash, multiple SDRAM banks, dual-port synchronous RAM; and complex clock circuitry up to 100MHz. Analysis of a proprietary bus based on USB, Lonworks, and Firewire was done. The board included an APEX 20KC and two Virtex XCV400s. The EPLDs and FPGAs were implemented in VHDL. The board had six BGA packages from 400 to 484 pins each with extensive use of JTAG. Altera, Xilinx, Viewlogic schematic capture tools were used. |
