An MPC8260-based PowerPC processor board was designed for a frequency synthesizer. Control logic and state machines were implemented by a Xilinx CPLD. A 64-bit and 32-bit local bus was used, with boot Flash, Flash, NVSRAM, and SDRAM. Other features included an LCD video controller, GPIB controller, USB, serial ports, and 66MHz clock circuitry. The CPLD was implemented in VHDL. Xilinx Foundation tools were used.
